Girls were jubilant at Central Newcastle High School as they received news of their A Level results today. Concert Hailed Event of the YearA concert designed to stretch talented pupils as well as engage the community was hailed the event of the year by its delighted audience. |
Spanish The Spanish Department offers the opportunity to learn this valuable world language to pupils from Year 7 to 13. We organise regualr visits to Andalucia to pupils from Year 8 onwards. This trip takes place during February half term holidays and is based in Córdoba. The pupils attend Spanish lessons at the Académia Hispánica as well as visiting famous monuments, palaces and gardens. Part of this experience is the opportunity for the girls to meet with their pen-pals, to sample “real Spanish food “in tapas restaurants and to research “in depth” the latest fashion at various well known shops.
For Year 12 and some Year 13 students we have run a very successful Exchange with “Colegio Peleteiro” in Santiago the Compostela, Galicia. By this point in their studies the girls are confident enough with the language to enjoy the experience and are able to improve their communication skills as well as sample “home and school life” Spanish style. All Year 13 and some Year 12 students attend The Spanish Sixth Form One Day Conference at Ampleforth College, York in October. This annual event, organised by ALL (The Association for Language Learning), offers yet another opportunity for the girls to hear native speakers and to obtain more information on their A Level topics.
For those who either missed out on trips and exchanges or simply love Spanish Tapas we visit one of our Spanish Restaurants in Newcastle during the year. |
