The Library

The Library is at the heart of the School, shared by everyone, supporting all subjects in the curriculum, and encouraging wider interests and a lifelong love of reading.

There are two separate rooms;

• the Old Library, an attractive panelled room which was the School's first Library: this is now our Sixth Form Library
• the new Library, a light, modern study area, well stocked with books to support the curriculum and out-of-school interests, and in close proximity to the School's computer suites, to encourage the complementary use of the Internet and the printed word.

The Library uses a computerised management system, and the catalogue of almost 12,000 resources can be searched from any computer in the School. The Librarian is available every day to help girls, including breaks, lunchtimes and after school.

All girls are shown how to use the Library, and encouraged to make full use of the facilities from their first year in the School through to the Sixth Form. Lively displays help to promote the large and varied stock, and suggestions for new resources to purchase are always welcome.
