Latin The Cambridge Latin Course is used upto GCSE (OCR). This course teaches pupils to read Latin in its cultural context. Stories begin in Pompeii and travel to Egypt, Britain and finally to Rome itself. The complexity of the language is carefully graded until real Latin is introduced in Year 10. There are consolidation exercises and regular tests to support and encourage learning. AS and A2 (OCR). Two Latin authors are studied in Year 12 for the literature papers and language work follows a similar pattern to GCSE, being examined by unseen translation. In Year 13 the language work is examined by unseen translation and comprehension (or prose composition) and we can study either one or two (shorter) works of literature. |
