Provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs or where English is an additional languageCentral Newcastle High School is committed to creating an environment in which all pupils can participate and achieve their full potential, both socially and academically. Provision is made for the identification of special educational needs and we support gifted and talented pupils. If a special need is identified parents will be contacted and advised of the possible courses of action. Pupils for whom English is an additional language are identified on entry to the School. Specialist assessment is then arranged and undertaken by private contract arrangement with a peripatetic EFL specialist. The assessment recommends what provision is required to enable rapid but sustained improvement and therefore better access to the curriculum. |
