Our Junior Department at West Avenue, Gosforth Our school in West Avenue houses Nursery, Reception classes and Years 1 - 3.
The terraced house frontage at West Avenue leads to a wealth of facilities within. Classrooms are large and airy and all have ICT provision. Specialist rooms for Music and Art, a library and gymnasium enable girls to enjoy a wide range of activities. Two playgrounds with safe surfaces further enhance provision.
PE activities take place both on and off the school site. The hall and playground provide gym and games areas. Girls also make use of South Northumberland Cricket field, Gosforth Tennis Club and Northumberland Lawn Tennis and Squash Racquets Club while Years 2 and 3 swim at The Northern Counties School in Jesmond and the City Pool. Parents are invited to school for both formal and informal meetings as well as receiving twice yearly reports. The Head of Junior Department, her deputy and class teachers are always happy to discuss queries or concerns. After School Care An After School Club for pupils in the Junior Department is held each night at West Avenue. Girls are supervised by trained staff who provide interesting and exciting activities ranging from art and craft to drama and games. There is also a quiet area for older girls to do homework. A snack and a drink are provided. The session runs until 6pm and there is a charge of £5 per session for pre-booked sessions and £6 for ad hoc bookings.
