Pastoral Care

Our pastoral care is evident throughout the School and is built on the view that each individual girl’s welfare is of prime importance.  We want to ensure that each pupil thrives within our happy and supportive community.  We foster open and confident relationships between staff and pupils and this creates an atmosphere in which girls feel able to approach staff to discuss any concerns about academic or personal matters.

The form teachers have immediate responsibility for the girls with whom they have daily contact.  In the Senior School the Heads of Year provide a further level of pastoral support for each girl and are readily available to talk to parents. In addition to this, the Headmistress, Deputy Head, Head and Deputy of Junior Department, Head of Sixth Form, and Director of Studies are also accessible to any girl should she wish to speak to them.

Central Newcastle High School has a School Doctor and a full time School Nurse.  Our School Nurse is SRN qualified and on hand to deal with any illnesses. She is also a trained Counsellor and the girls can, and do, talk to her about any worries.
