SmartGate VPN

SmartGate authenticates users, encrypts communication channels and provides flexible access controls for client-to-application security.

SmartSat™ Program

Satellite VPN

SmartGate client/server software overcomes performance problems experienced by other VPN solutions when subjected to satellite circuit propagation delay. Strong encryption, authentication and other VPN services are maintained from an end user's system all the way to a secure gateway over a satellite link, allowing end-to-end protection.

By using Application Layer technology, SmartGate is compatible with a satellite network's TCP protocol acceleration/spoofing capabilities, thereby avoiding the adverse impact of high latency satellite links. Benchmark results have shown between a 5:1 and 15:1 improvement in throughput over IPSec. Performance degradation is negligible (less than 10%) compared to regular TCP/IP traffic data rates.

Pocket PC Mobile Solutions

The Pocket PC’s small size, instant-on capability, and long battery life make it ideal for mobile workers to send and receive e-mail, view attachments, or access sensitive Web pages and databases. Whether it is a patient's healthcare report sent by a home health care worker, a stock transaction request received by a broker, or an e-mail exchange between law enforcement agencies, all types of critical information have one common need - security. V-ONE’s SmartGate® next generation VPN with the SmartPass® client provides secure network access for Pocket PC users.

Securely Send and Receive Critical Time-sensitive Information

V-ONE’s SmartGate Pocket PC's authentication, encryption, and flexible user based access control features provide the security needed for using Pocket PC's to handle critical information in today's mobile, fast-paced work environment. SmartGate provides a software-based authentication token that verifies a user's identity. It also provides strong encryption for information as it passes over a wireline or wireless network.

SmartPass Pocket PC Client

V-ONE’s SmartPass client software runs on a user's Pocket PC and connects it to a SmartGate server. It handles two-factor user authentication and data encryption between the Pocket PC and SmartGate Server. After installation, a user's only interaction with SmartGate for Pocket PC is to enter an access code when the program is started.

SmartGate Server

The SmartGate Server manages authentication and encryption keys plus connection privileges to applications behind firewalls on trusted networks. After a user is authenticated to SmartPass on the Pocket PC, an encrypted data link is established between it and SmartGate. The SmartGate Server then makes connections to private network application servers, based on an access control list for each user.

V-ONE provides application level & IPSec Virtual Private Network (VPN) security products for commercial enterprises and government agencies. With proven expertise in deploying extranet, remote access and site-to-site solutions, V-ONE's strengths include:

SmartGate Features

SmartPass® Client

V-ONE’s lightweight client runs as a non-intrusive application on the end user’s desktop or as a Java™ applet on a browser providing VPN connection services to the SmartGate server. Installation is fast, simple, and designed to take the complexity of VPN implementation out of the hands of users. SmartPass handles user authentication by interfacing with a variety of authentication methods ranging from a FIPS 140-1 validated token to third party products such as RSA SecureID, LDAP PKI, and RADIUS. To securely connect, a user simply enters an access code that verifies possession of an authentication token residing either on a hard drive, floppy disk, or Smart Card. Biometric devices can also be integrated with SmartGate. Advanced security functions are performed automatically and hidden from the end user.

SmartPass is available on a broad range of computing platforms including

Today’s large organizations often employ multiple computing platforms—SmartPass provides the same user experience and functionality to them

Patented Application Level Protocol -

V-ONE application proxy technology enables client-to-application connectivity, eliminating the need for technical end user configuration changes and troubleshooting of Network Address Translation (NAT) issues.

Multi-Platform Support -

SmartGate can interact with V-ONE’s easy to use SmartPass client software available on a broad range of platforms—including wireless. A Java version allows secure connectivity with leading browsers.

Strong Encryption -

AES or 168-bit Triple DES (Data Encryption Standard) with constantly changing session keys is employed for solid data protection to meet even the most stringent security requirements.

Access Control –

A powerful, flexible policy manager allows full control of user access to specific information. Access permissions can be as broad or granular as required for groups and individual users.

Single Port Proxy –

SmartGate services operate with a single port presence on the network perimeter. All SmartPass to SmartGate communication passes through a single firewall port and is then forwarded to the destination host service.

Ease of Use –

SmartPass users can simply enter an access code to establish secure connectivity with the SmartGate server. Advanced technology and configuration details are shielded from end users.

Authentication –

Powerful technology provides two-way and two-factor authentication to verify the identity of users and systems. A variety of third party authentication systems are supported including RADIUS, RSA SecureID, x.509 PKI, LDAP and other digital certificates.

IPSec Security –

IPSec standard compliant technology allows tunnels to be created in both site-to-site and client-to-server configurations (available on Windows 2000 and NT).

End User Activation –

V-ONE’s patented On-Line Registration system allows VPN deployment to thousands of end users in minutes. User IDs can be automatically generated for expediency.

Nested Groups –

Administrators can create groups that contain other groups as part of the user list. This significantly reduces the time spent by administrators managing user accounts and access rights.
