Brightmail is available as a cost-option to the MXtreme Mail Firewall. Users can evaluate and license this option on the MXtreme Mail Firewall without any further installation or configuration. Turning Brightmail on is one mouse click away.

Brightmail for MXtreme is easily and securely deployed in your existing mail stream. V5.0 Features: Brightmail Anti-Spam analyzes and filters mail using a variety of filtering modules. In addition to standard techniques such as header-based heuristics and pattern matching, the modules include a host of proprietary filtering methods such as BrightSig2, which combats HTML-based spam.
Brightmail Anti-Spam is continuously refreshed (every 5 or 10 minutes) with targeted filtering rules that combat the latest spam attacks. Based on the verdict assigned to a message by the Brightmail server, administrators can choose to perform a variety of actions on the message, including reject, quarantine and place a tag in the subject line.
Brightmail Anti-Spam includes the Brightmail Blacklist (BBL), a dynamic database containing IP addresses of proxy servers with open or insecure ports, crossreferenced against trusted third parties and other information from the BLOC that accurately identify these servers as sources of spam mail. Regenerated daily, the BBL delivers an up-to-date and reliable list against which the system can check incoming connections and block or quarantine as required.
Brightmail Anti-Spam includes two other tools:
Brightmail Plug-in: this is an optional component that plugs-in to popular mail clients, allowing the end-user to submit mis-classified messages directly to Brightmail.
Spam Folder Agent: this is a selfcontained software application that runs on MS Exchange and Lotus Notes server to create server-side rules that automatically folder spam in each enduser’s spam folder.
Performance
Brightmail is tightly integrated into the MXtreme Mail Firewall and delivers outstanding throughput and performance. MXtreme systems can support throughputs of over 50,000 messages per hour with full scanning.
