Borderware Mxtreme V6 Update 2

Borderware has released a beta version of the second update to it's MXtreme Email Firewall and anti spam device.

This update promises to add many new features including

  • Message Archiving
  • URL Block lists
  • Token Analysis enhancements
  • Brightmail Skip threshold
  • BSN Whitelist for Mail Relays

Lockup your laptop there's an ID thief about

As if we needed any more persuasion that the crooks are moving to theft of electronic data a recent article by Will Sturgeon of Silicon.com highlights the issue again. According to Byan Sartin, a VP of Cybertrust fraudsters are targeting banks and other key institutions by stealing laptops and backup tapes which are seen as the path of least resistance into an organisation.

While the public see the news stories of phishing and pharming and other spyware attacks the simple theft of the physical asset, the actual hardware and the data it contains often presents a much easier and more lucrative opportunity for the fraudsters.
