SpyWare attacks lead by DNS poisoning

The next wave of Internet security risks facing companies will involve attacks based on DNS poisoning coupled with specific types of spyware and adware infection. These so called blended threats involve multiple attack vectors making them much more difficult to protect against.
Companies using Windows DNS servers are more vulnerable than others based on BIND. However even using BIND a multi-layered defence strategy should be adopted to ensure that systems are not vulnerable to attack and BIND should always be kept up to date!
Note Internet Software Consortium advises that BIND 4 and 8 are no longer suitable for use as forwarders
