Saturday, June 07, 2003Corporate Security : could do better
5th Annual NTA Monitor Security Audit published last month reports a general improvement in the standard of corporate security over the past few years, but there is still room for considerable improvement. Encouragingly the number of High Risk vulnerability issues seen have dropped to less than 2% of all systems tested. This is seen as a reflection of the high profile nature of these risks and that they are the ones usually dealt with by the 'patch release' approach. However the medium and low risk picture is a different story, with significant number of systems tested showing this level of vulnerability. While it could be argued that these results are good and show a major improvement from previous years, I belive that the numbers actually reflect a more worrying position. The top marks of 45% of systems showing up in medium risk category and 85% in the low risk category indicate that there is likely to be significant lack of understanding and methodology behind the measures being implemented. The report can be down loaded from the NTA web site.posted by Robert Campbell 10:08 AM |
