Tuesday, May 13, 2003Virus Alert : Medium RiskA new virus WORM_LOVGATE.J has been spotted in the wild and users should take all precations to make sure their anti virus software is up to date. This virus is currently rapidly spreading in Korea, from where TrendLabs has received a significant number of infection reports. As of Tuesday, May 13, 12:46 AM (US Pacific Time), Trend has declared a Medium Risk Alert to control the spread of this malware. This worm propagates via shared network drives and via email. It searches for all shared folders with read/write access in the same network and drops copies of itself into these folders. It propagates via email by replying to all new messages received in Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express. This worm runs on Windows NT, 2000, and XP.
