Encrypt that data or face a £5000 fine!

The Information Commissioner reportedly told the Lord's Constitution Committee that he favours making careless handling of data a criminal offence. Anyone knowingly or recklessly flouting data protection principles is likely to be liable for fines up to £5000. This potentially includes anyone with data that contains any personal details needs to look at data encryption now.
