Monday, June 27, 2005Stolen LapTopsWell we put our systems to the real test the other day when some light fingered crook broke into ecommnet's offices on the second floor and knicked one of our laptops. The event was duly reported to the police and we smartly filled in the insurence claims, thinking we'd never see the laptop again but we were wrong. A couple of days later a detective from Northumbria Police came to see us and asked ,'...is this your laptop? pointing to a very dusty looking Dell, '...we can't tell what's on it because we can't get into it and neither could anyone at PC World!' The pc was one of our old laptops from our testing / training lab and had been protected with SafeGuard Easy, no one who had tried to get into the device could do so and due to the speedy work of the police thay hadn't had time to formatt the drive either. The odd thing was the police had had to turn to the local branch of PC World for help that was the only way they could get a power supply for the device. The thief had been disturbed and had not taken the PSU!. Related Links posted by Robert Campbell 8:23 PM |
