Wednesday, April 16, 2003AOL vs SPAM
AOL is taking on the spammers, in a news article published on the BBC's web site today AOL is credited with filing serveral law suits against 'unspecified defendants' claiming damages in excess of $10m and seeking an end to the messages. Is this likely to have an effect, other than attempting to pacify AOL's subscribers? Probably not, the SPAMmers have no respect for the kind of authority that the courts are likely to wield. The only people who should be worried are other ISPs watch for AOL seeking to claim damages from them. We wonder if every cross connect agreement between ISPs, IP transit companies and organisations such as TeleHouse, LINX or AMIX will have in the future to include no SPAM clauses.®©
