Office Nuclear Regulation part of the UK HSE has admitted to losing sensitive plans for the Hartlepool power station. The leak has been widely reported in the UK press by the Sun and the Guardian as well as many tech sites.

What baffles me is how the policies which have been in place to mandate encryption for sensitive data, are not being enforced. It’s one thing to have the technology to apply measures such as encryption but unless they are enforced they are obviously useless. Any such policy that is in any way difficult or complex to use or relies solely on human discretion is bound to fail at least some of the time.
