Digital Certificates
In the past the popular notion of digital certificates was one of difficulty and complexity and best suited to very high end security systems such as military or security forces. It wasn’t the first option by any means for the average IT department. However, in today’s enterprise networks the importance of mutual authentication and the increasing demand for simple point to point encryption using SSL/TLS between servers, as well as client to server, the use of digital certificates has become critical.
There is a need, therefore, to be able to implement and maintain a certificate infrastructure easily and cost-effectively. For them to be easy to manage, without the need for administrators to become highly expert in PKI, this means they must integrate tightly with existing management systems that administrators are familiar with.
